Hey babes, it’s time for another makeup review of a Boxycharm product. I already told you about a lipstick and eyeshadow palette, but today I’m reviewing one of the most fun items I received: the Naked Cosmetics holographic highlighter palette.
When I first saw this highlighter palette, I wasn’t really too sure about it. I’ve never used a holographic highlighter and I just couldn’t really imagine putting those bright greens, blues, and pinks on my cheeks. Well, I’ve tried it a few times now and I am actually loving it!
When applying the highlighter, I keep it very light (just a little bit will do for this product). Also, I only apply this highlighter to my cheeks (not my nose or chin like I usually do with a more subdued highlighter). The best way to show this highlighter is with a video, which I’ve included below. Please excuse my terrible nails that need to be done.
Also, please ignore the fact that the eyeliner on my right eye looks all wonky. It didn’t look like that in real life and I didn’t notice until I was watching the video at 10 p.m. In other words, way too late to redo. But hey, if you are expecting perfection, you’re definitely on the wrong blog. I’m more of a slightly chipped nail polish, little wonky eyeliner, never quite even brows, but still always feeling fabulous type of gal.
Holographic highlighters for the win.
I still plan to experiment some more with this holographic highlighter palette because I haven’t tried all of the colors. However, this product is a great way to expand my use of fun colors in my makeup routine without going too far outside my comfort zone. I’d LOVE to be confident enough to try fun bold eyeshadow colors, but I’m just not quite there yet. I’m getting there though. Six months ago I would have never worn bright red lipstick out either. 🙂
Maybe this week’s makeup review has inspired you to try something new. If you’d like to get your hands on the Naked Cosmetics holographic highlighter palette, you can click here. Revlon also makes a more affordable palette, but I haven’t personally tried this one. Have you ever tried holographic highlighters and do you like them? If not, what is your go-to highlighter?
